Welcome to the site Picpan..30 yrs of metal detecting experience..wow, we may all learn from you then, lol. I've read about winter detecting and the finds they discover..gonna have to find me some snowpiles to play with. The mall/shopping centers is a great place but ski resorts are another hotspot too...there's about 3 of them within a hour of me.
Walking around with your head to the ground is perfectly normal posture around here..we don't know any other way, lol. You'll have to let us know how you make out when you're out poking around in the Adirondacks and what great things you find around the eastern part of the state..welcome again to our little family.

Hi ya'l
I was born and raised in central NY, but moved to Georgia 30 years ago. This week my brother and his wife were here for a visit, so it was a perfect time to infect some more people with the "gold fever". I showed them the basics of panning out back in a tub and I think maybe it started an itch! Then we gave em a tour of Dahlonega, the museum, mines, etc. Then they panned some more at Crissom's mine.
When they left this morning, I sent them home with 20 gals. of cons, pans, snuffer, vials, etc. Now I have 5 nephews, 2 nieces, and other relatives up there, and I'm sure at least 3 or 4 or more of them will 'get the itch for gold'.
I told them about you getting a chapter together, and I'm sure some of them will be at one of your meetings within a couple of months. Some of them don't live far from Eaton.
NY is still home to me in a way, but I sure don't miss the lonnngg winters, or the taxes!
By the way, great website!

Thank you Downhome...your family members are more than welcome to join our family here. We'll help them find a remedy for that "itching for gold problem". We have a member here that is from down your way- C17A (Randy)..man, the pics he sends us of the gold he finds down there, it just makes our itching worse, lol!! Here's his link, maybe you could meet up for an outing together... www.goldadventures.biz

Hello Everyone! 1st thing, NICE website here, a lot of great reading! I live in Rochester, NY and I love sports and being outdoors. I really love the Adirondacks. I had a total left hip replacement surgery last summer and it looks like my baseball and softball days might be done. My avatar is a pic of me 3 1/2 years ago playing at Frontier Field. Looks like new hobbies in my future. I have always wanted to search/find/prospect for gold. When I was in Alaska in '07 we went on day trip in Fairbanks at the El Dorado Gold Mine. Did a little panning and loved it. (yep - got some flakes) I think the hunting is the best part! I sent a note to jsgoldny last week and he responded with some great info for me. (100% newbie) Thanks JS! I always wondered if there was gold in our state .... I have always wanted to just go out and get my feet wet and try it out!
